A New Record

Cooper is celebrating seven weeks at Foster House, the longest of any of our fosters.  Today, Cooper ties the record, previously held by Tucker.  Tomorrow he’ll break it.

Honestly, we’re a little befuddled at the lack of interest in Cooper.  Sure, he may not be perfect, but he’s improved leaps and bounds in the time he’s been with us.  He hasn’t had an accident in weeks.  And yesterday, he spent the whole day in his crate without eating his bed.  That, my friends, is growth.

Who wants perfect, anyway?  Perfect is boring.  Our own Oscar, who couldn’t be more perfect in my eyes, is toy possessive, afraid of kitchen tile and only learned how to jump into the car recently by watching our foster dogs. And look at Kaylee – tied to a chain, unsocialized, bigger than she thinks she is Kaylee.  Since she’s been adopted, Kaylee (now Kate) has become a foster sister herself, helping rehabilitate a dog rescued from a horrible abuse situation.  I’ll take “needs a little love” over “perfect” any day of the week.

Let’s talk about what Cooper is good at.  Do you need a co-pilot, who can’t get enough of car rides?  Cooper’s your guy.

Do you want a snuggle buddy, for yourself and/or another four-legged member of the family?  Check and check.

How about someone to help inspect your shower for cleanliness?  Gotcha covered there, too.

Would you like to be lulled to sleep each night by the soothing sounds of a chainsaw?  Look no further.

Cooper, I make you this promise: I will search tirelessly, high and low, until we find you the most perfectest People on the planet.  They are going to love you so stinkin’ much, you won’t be able to stand it.  They’re gonna snuggle you like you’ve never been snuggled before, up on the couch under a warm blanket on cold windy nights. They’re gonna take you on big adventure hikes, or maybe you’ll be their running partner.  Maybe they’ll take you to the lake or the river this summer to see if you’re the swimming type, would you like that?  They might work from home, or even be able to take you to work with them, wouldn’t that be awesome?  And don’t worry, most importantly, I’ll make sure they understand how to properly stuff a Kong for you.

But until then, babe – you’ve got a place with us for as long as you want it.

If you’d like to give Cooper his Furever Home, please fill out an application with Agape Animal Rescue.

  3. I’m with Two Grads – definitely shedding a few happyish tears this morning, because I believe that Cooper WILL find his forever family with your help, but right now, today, and for as long as it takes for those people to show up, Cooper couldn’t be more lucky than to be with people like you!

ME TOO! Perfect IS boring. Couldn’t have said it better myself! Have a happy weekend, breaking that record, Cooper!

  7. I often doubt that people will make good on their promises. That being said, I am certain that you will keep your promise to Cooper!!!! And I couldn’t agree more that “perfect” is a synonym for “boring,” especially when it comes to dogs. Fingers and paws crossed in NYC for Cooper to find her dream home and family sooner rather than later.
